If one were to take Serpemon by his looks, his actions, his mannerisms, his clumsiness...pretty much anything about him, they might be confused as to how well respected he is or how indeed he became one of the top three students to move forwards in the Fire Forces. However, if one were to actually sit down, and get to know the real him...they would still be utterly confused. But it all feeds into the persona he wants; a friendly, sociable, slightly shady individual who's the life of the party and the thorn in everybody's side
Serpemon's greatest strength is his tongue. Charming and respectful at times, cheeky and crude at others. He has the ability and nous to talk himself out of many a tricky situation, as well as the wicked streak and curiousity that often lands him in such situations in the first place. He knows how to read a room and how to direct a conversation in any way he wants it, and keeps his end goals very tight to his chest, relying on the trust of his closest friends to help him succeed.
It's easy to imagine that trust being hard to come by, and he relies heavily on the good will of Coremon and Mollumon to make it through each day intact. This of course rarely comes out so succinctly, as he frequently goofs around with them as much as with anyone, and often manages to dance his way onto Mollumon's last nerve. But he's able to be more open with them than with anyone else he knows, and will do whatever it takes to make sure they're protected from the worst aspects of the world. After all, he's older than he seems, and has seen his own fair share.
