This is a tale of three young Digimon.

Digimon who would later be feared, and cursed, as the ones who destroyed the Digital World and burned it to the ground. But that is another story.

It's a time of celebration within the Fire Kingdom, as Coremon, Mollumon and Serpemon are to take their place as Elites of the Fire Kingdom. Top soldiers of their ranks, the best of the best, and the future of this great nation.

But after tragedy strikes at their graduation, they are pulled into a baptism of fire more brutal than they could ever have imagined. The three find themselves undercover within the harsh and oppressive Spokes Districts; a place with its own demons and vices. Furious rebels, mysterious disappearances, and the judgemental eye of a struggling Sovereignty stand in their way at every turn.

Coremon, Mollumon and Serpemon stand alone in an unforgiving world, with only their own skills, wits, and one another to rely on. In order to find justice, and more importantly, to find the truth of what really happened.

They were so young once. The last Commanders of the Fire Kingdom.

I'm baaaaaack! It's been far too long, and especially for this, the first side story idea I came up with over ten years ago now. Still, better late than never.

Firestarters is a short story set before the events of Inferno, detailing a tale of the three Commanders from their youth.

This is a standalone story and it is not necessary to have read any of the rest of Ascending to follow it, however it does involve characters from Inferno and some familiarity with events to come may be helpful to fully understand it.

The story is rated T (13+) for moderate violence and infrequent language.

Once again, I hope you enjoy this delve into Ascending's past, and as per usual, I apologise for the tragedies to be found within.
